About the album:

With over 40 years of playing together, tenor saxophonist Tony Jones and fellow tenor player and spouse Jessica Jones have created an intimate musical bond. The music on “Hearing Into the Future” displays the full range of Tony’s musical experience, from being schooled in mainstream and progressive jazz from a very young age by his jazz-loving mother, to co-leading a cooperative improvisation group, “Pitch, Rhythm and Consciousness,” which is associated with freer jazz. You can hear the full spectrum of his influences in this project. 

Jessica plays tenor saxophone on one cut (Bird’s Word), and Tony has an extemporaneous solo piece (Loose Talk Part 2). The rest of the songs showcase Tony’s deeply personal tone and architectural navigation with Jessica accompanying on piano. The result feels like a private concert with whiffs of old-school ballad vibrations and modern harmonic conceptions.
